Individual Counseling
If you are ready to deal with issues such as addictions, depression, anger, or anxiety, or if you are struggling with other life events, individual counseling may be the perfect opportunity to make long-lasting, effective changes to improve your life.
During counseling sessions, we will explore current events to determine what is going on and uncover the source or sources of your trouble. We will look at what is working for you and what isn't. Working as a team, we can gain insight into your problems, root them out at their core, and develop clear, workable solutions to them.
My primary job as your counselor is to be a guide and to provide you a safe place where you can do your work. I may shine lights into dark corners and suggest paths we should follow, but it is your journey and we will only go where you are ready and willing to go.
Couples and Family Counseling
Often couples or families come into counseling because things are just not working in the relationship. Sometimes, especially in a family, one person is identified as "the problem" when the underlying issue may be the way you are relating to each other.
During counseling sessions, we will explore what is happening in the relationship and determine what is working and what isn't. Working as a team, we can gain insight into your problems and develop clear, workable solutions to them.
When working with a family or a couple, I view the relationship as the client and focus work to improving the dynamics between you and your loved ones. We generally begin our work by learning how to better communicate with and understand each other. By creating an environment where you can be heard and accepted and learn to hear and accept others, an atmosphere of trust is established, where you are more comfortable to share who you are with your loved ones.
